Music City Baseball and Ebbets Field Flannels Launch Throwback Jerseys and Ballcaps to Honor Negro Leagues

NASHVILLE, TN. (October 9, 2020) – Music City Baseball (MCB), a group of Tennessee leaders working to bring Major League Baseball to Nashville, has forged a partnership with Ebbets Field and Flannels to create branded wool jerseys and ball caps in honor of the 100th Year Anniversary of the Negro Leagues, the U.S. professional African American baseball leagues that had profound impact on the social advancement in America.

Ebbets has created jerseys and caps that harken back to the era when the original Nashville Stars team played. The Nashville Stars, which are the inspiration for the name of Music City Baseball’s future team, were a semi-pro Negro league baseball team in the late 1930s through the early 1950s.

The collaboration to provide genuine recreations of wool jerseys and ball caps was inspired by Ebbets founder, Jerry Cohen, and his life-long passion for honoring baseball’s history. Setting themselves apart with their track record of focusing on the Negro Leagues and pre-1958 Pacific Coast League, Ebbets serves as the ideal partner to identify the history of the Negro Leagues and rejuvenating the Nashville Stars name.

Both organizations are committed to recognizing baseball’s history and honoring the Negro Leagues.

Music City Baseball, the group of Tennessee community leaders working to bring Major League Baseball to the city of Nashville, prides themselves on bringing the Nashville Stars brand to life while sharing the history of the original Negro Leagues team.

“These throwback jerseys are just another way for us to honor the 100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues, which is an organization that drives so much of our efforts in bringing Major League Baseball to Nashville,” said John Loar, Managing Director of Music City Baseball.

These customizable jerseys as well as additional merchandise will be available for purchase online at www.ebbets.com and www.mlbmusiccity.com . All jerseys are 100% handmade to order from 100% authentic historical fabrics. 50% of Music City Baseball’s net proceeds from each sale will go to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in accordance with their partnership.

“We tip our cap to Music City Baseball for their passionate efforts to promote the legacy of the Negro Leagues and elevate greater awareness and support of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum,” said Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

“We are pleased to work with Music City baseball to bring the rich history of Negro Leagues baseball into a contemporary context. As someone who has researched the Negro Leagues for over 30 years, the idea of a new MLB team with a connection to Black baseball’s past is very exciting,” said Jerry Cohen, Co-founder of Ebbets Field Flannels.
